H2HUBB Standards
Official Standards Framework

Bringing more clarity, confidence, and accountability to the hydrogen marketplace through practical, research-informed product evaluation.

The hydrogen market is growing quickly, but for most consumers, it is still difficult to know which products are truly worth trusting. H2HUBB exists to help bridge the gap between scientific literature, technical product evaluation, and practical consumer guidance so people can find better hydrogen products without buying blindly.

What H2HUBB Is

H2HUBB is a qualified hydrogen marketplace supported by an evaluation wing and a promotion wing.

We are not a manufacturer, and we do not exist to push one single hydrogen technology over another. We are also not a regulatory agency, a medical authority, or a purely academic standards body such as MHI, IHSA, or AHHA.

Our role is to evaluate hydrogen products in a practical, research-informed way that helps consumers make better decisions and helps better products stand out in the marketplace.

Why H2HUBB Standards Exist

H2HUBB standards exist to reduce buyer risk.

Our internal standards are designed to help identify products that are therapeutically relevant, appropriate for their intended use and product category, and worthy of greater consumer trust and marketplace visibility.

In a market filled with competing claims and inconsistent product quality, our internal standards provide the framework we use to evaluate whether a product deserves greater confidence and promotion.

The Core Purpose of Our Evaluation Process

1. Therapeutic Relevance

Does the product deliver hydrogen gas in amounts that are therapeutically relevant? We assess whether the product is capable of delivering hydrogen in amounts that align with therapeutic ranges found in the scientific and medical literature.

2. Practical Home-Use Safety

Is the product appropriate for home use within its category when used as intended? We assess whether the product includes design features, safety mechanisms, engineering controls, user protocols, and clear safety disclosures and educational guidance that help meaningfully reduce or limit risk during normal use.

What Our Standards Are Designed to Do

  • Identify products that appear capable of delivering relevant hydrogen exposure
  • Identify important safety mechanisms, limitations, and practical use considerations
  • Reduce buyer risk
  • Improve product transparency
  • Help consumers compare hydrogen products more intelligently
  • Support the visibility of better hydrogen products in the marketplace

What Our Standards Are Not Designed to Do

H2HUBB standards are not designed to eliminate every possible risk from every hydrogen product. That would not be realistic across all hydrogen product categories.

Different hydrogen technologies carry different strengths, limitations, and safety profiles. Some products allow for highly direct measurement and control. Others require more practical estimation based on lab testing, engineering, and intended real-world use.

Our role is to evaluate those differences honestly and determine whether a product still qualifies as a meaningful and reasonable option within its category.

Our View on Safety

Safety is a core part of H2HUBB evaluation, but safety must be understood realistically and contextually.

H2HUBB product approval does not require hydrogen products to be free from all conceivable risk. That standard would be unrealistic across hydrogen product categories and would fail to account for the real-world differences in how various hydrogen technologies are designed, used, and maintained.

Instead, H2HUBB works to reduce buyer risk by evaluating whether a product is reasonably appropriate for home use within its category, while clearly identifying its safety mechanisms, limitations, potential harms, and practical use considerations.

This means our evaluation process does not simply ask whether a product has risk. Nearly all hydrogen products carry some form of risk, limitation, or user responsibility. Rather, we ask whether those risks are being appropriately addressed through product design, engineering controls, testing, maintenance requirements, and user safety protocols, and whether the remaining risks are clearly disclosed to the consumer by the distributing company.

Our Safety Evaluation May Include

  • Built-in safety mechanisms
  • Engineering features intended to reduce or limit risk
  • Known design limitations
  • Third-party testing where available
  • Maintenance and handling requirements
  • Practical home-use safety protocols
  • Disclosure of category-specific risks and potential harms

This is especially important in hydrogen inhalation, where different technologies can carry different tradeoffs. Some devices may offer a stronger overall safety profile, while others may involve greater maintenance requirements, higher user responsibility, or intrinsic risks associated with the chemistry or gas mixture used. In these cases, H2HUBB’s role is not to hide those realities or pretend all product categories are equally safe. Our role is to name those realities clearly and determine whether the product is still reasonably appropriate for home use within its category when proper safeguards and protocols are followed.

For example, a product may be capable of producing clean and therapeutically relevant hydrogen while still carrying intrinsic limitations or hazards that must be disclosed, such as flammability, detonability, caustic electrolyte use, contamination risk, or higher maintenance requirements. In such cases, H2HUBB may still determine that the product can be used for home use if its design includes meaningful safety mechanisms, the risks are reduced as much as reasonably possible, those risks are clearly disclosed to the buyer, and our testing confirms that the gas is delivered cleanly and at therapeutically relevant levels.

H2HUBB’s safety framework is not based on eliminating all theoretical risk. It is based on practical transparency, category-aware evaluation, and reducing buyer risk through clearer performance testing, clearer safety disclosure, and more informed consumer guidance.

Why Our Standards Are Category-Specific

Not every hydrogen product can be evaluated the same way.

Some categories allow for more direct confirmation of hydrogen concentration and dose. Others require practical estimation based on lab-confirmed output, engineering design, published research, and intended real-world use.

Because of this, H2HUBB uses category-specific standards rather than forcing every hydrogen product into one narrow model.

How We Evaluate Hydrogen Water Products

For hydrogen water products, H2HUBB evaluates measurable dissolved hydrogen concentration, estimated hydrogen dose, and product design safety.

  • Does the product produce relevant dissolved hydrogen concentrations?
  • Does the estimated hydrogen dose align with research-informed therapeutic thresholds?
  • Does the design reduce the risk of unwanted contaminants or byproducts in the water?

Because hydrogen water products can often be measured more directly, this category allows for more exact confirmation of hydrogen concentration and estimated dose.

How We Evaluate Hydrogen Inhalation Products

For hydrogen inhalation products, H2HUBB evaluates whether a device produces enough hydrogen gas to reasonably fall within a therapeutically relevant range under practical home-use conditions.

Because inhalation delivery can vary based on interface, breathing pattern, and user behavior, H2HUBB does not claim to establish exact fixed inspired hydrogen concentrations under every physiological scenario.

Instead, we use lab-confirmed gas flow, delivery design, and practical estimated inhaled hydrogen relevance based on standard resting assumptions and research-informed therapeutic targets. We also evaluate whether the product includes appropriate safety mechanisms, engineering controls, and user protocols for home use.

Our Evaluation Philosophy

H2HUBB aims to approve and promote qualified hydrogen products across every major hydrogen category whenever they meet our standards.

We do not exist to force every product into one device model, one delivery pathway, or one narrow interpretation of the literature. Different hydrogen products may serve different users, different goals, and different contexts.

Our purpose is to identify better hydrogen products, reduce buyer risk, and help move the hydrogen marketplace forward with greater trust and accountability.

The H2HUBB Standard

An H2HUBB-qualified product is not simply a product that produces hydrogen. It is a product that has been evaluated for therapeutic hydrogen performance, category-appropriate safety considerations, practical consumer relevance, and stronger marketplace trust.
