Hydrogen-saturated saline protects intensive narrow band noise-induced hearing loss in guinea pigs through an antioxidant effect.

In guinea pigs, by Scanning electron microscopy and succinate dehydrogenase staining, the researchers found that pre-treatment with hydrogen-saturated saline significantly reduced noise-induced hair cell damage and hearing loss. These results are preclinical and suggest molecular hydrogen's therapeutic potential in the condition studied. Further human research is needed to establish clinical effectiveness.
