The intervention group inhaled 66.7% hydrogen and 33.3% oxygen by nasal cannula for more than 2 hours daily from admission through discharge; the control group received 33.3% oxygen. Serial CT measurements showed lower brain-edema volume and greater edema regression before discharge in the hydrogen group. Selected sleep and pain measures improved, while inflammatory markers, hospital and ICU stay, and recorded complications did not differ significantly between groups.
