Effect of CO2 and H2 gas mixture in cold water immersion on recovery after eccentric loading.
In 34 healthy participants, CO₂/H₂ cold-water immersion helped preserve isometric strength, countermovement-jump height, and range of motion after eccentric exercise compared with the other recovery conditions. Muscle soreness increased after exercise in every group, indicating that the recovery effect did not extend to every measured outcome.

In 8 healthy participants, these data will be foundational to future interventional studies of inhaled H₂ in injury states, including following cardiac arrest.
Read MoreAcute ingestion of hydrogen-rich water does not improve incremental treadmill running performance in endurance-trained athletes.
In This randomized controlled trial examined the effects of H₂-water ingestion on physiological responses and exercise performance during incremental treadmill running, cardiorespiratory responses, RPE, and blood gas indices were not significantly different at each submaximal running intensity (range: 34%-91% maximal oxygen uptake) between H₂-water and placebo trials.

In participants, 1% hydrogen-rich water (HRW) and 150 μM sodium nitroprusside (SNP) significantly extended the vase life and quality, while NO inhibitors suppressed the positive effects of HRW.
Read MoreMolecular Hydrogen Mitigates Performance Decrement during Repeated Sprints in Professional Soccer Players.
In participants, there were significantly faster sprint times after HRW consumption compared with placebo at 15 m for the 14th and 15th sprints, representing improvements in time of 3.4% and 2.7%, respectively.

In 1 participants, hydrogen treatment improved cognitive testing scores (P< 0.05), including attention and executive functions.
Read MoreEffectiveness of oral and topical hydrogen for sports-related soft tissue injuries.
In 2013 participants, oral and topical hydrogen intervention was found to augment plasma viscosity decrease as compared with the control group (P = 0.04). This pilot study supports molecular hydrogen's therapeutic potential for the condition studied, while larger randomized, placebo-controlled studies are needed to confirm the finding.

In 30 patients with T2DM controlled by diet and exercise therapy and 6 patients with IGT, hydrogen-rich water intake was also associated with a trend of decreased serum concentrations of oxidized LDL and free fatty acids, and increased plasma levels of adiponectin and extracellular-superoxide dismutase.
